chevelle

Chevelle is a hard rock/alternative metal band from Grayslake, IL founded in 1994 by brothers Pete and Sam Loeffler with the later joining of Joe Loeffler in 1996. The band name, obviously enough, comes from the Loeffler's love for cars, specifically the Chevrolet line. Sam said they "grew up in a Chevy family." Chevelle's music is said to be influenced mainly by Tool and Helmet, due to their driving, aggressive, and explosive sound. They are often compared with Tool, especially the comparison between Pete's vocals and Maynard's. Pete seems to follow a similar style of alternating mellow and melodic vocals with bursting into aggressive, emotionally charged screams. But whatever their influences, Chevelle has undoubtedly defined their own unique sound. They broke out in 2002 with their signature song, "The Red." The band is now signed to Epic Records. [1]

Chevelle is currently working on their fourth studio album that will be released February 2007 with the songs "Humanoid," "Straight Jacket Fashion," "We Paint the Seconds That Flow," and "One Cell". [2]

Changes

While the band originally featured the three Loeffler brothers, Joe Loeffler was relieved of his duties as bassist July 10, 2005 due to "irreconcilable differences." He was replaced by Geno Lenardo, also a one-time remix producer for the band, for the rest of the 2005 summer tour. On August 20, 2005, Lenardo was replaced on bass by Dean Bernadini, the brother-in-law to the Loeffler brothers. See Joe's page for more information.

  • While it has been posted before that Upheld Against the Court System is the title of an upcoming album, this is not true. Chevelle is writing an album right now, but Sam has said on the Chevelle site that a possible title is Your Terrible Memories. The rumor about the title Upheld Against the Court System stemmed from the article title "Chevelle's New Album Upheld Against the Court System" on MTV.com, which is in fact an article from 2003. [3]
